Still in shock...

I just received an e-mail from McMahon Five Design offering me the Guest Designer spot for their company for the month of January.  Did I accept?  You bet I did!  What an honor for me.  Now I will just hope and pray I have the materials on hand to meet their design challenges.  Ya'll wish me luck!

I am certain by now that everyone knows the pink ribbons represent Breast Cancer Awareness.  There are other colored ribbons that represent different causes.  I am listing those causes and their ribbon colors for the month of January.

I rushed to make this card and get it posted by Friday for a "Friday's Challenge" on another blog.  Got it done, rushed to site (early Friday afternoon) to see she had already picked winners.  Most challenges end later in the day on the day they are due....oh, well.  Lesson learned.

The reason for the season...

A  friend of mine, Charlene, had the below verse on her blog Charlene's Card Creations.  I asked her if I could repost it here.  She told me a friend had sent it to her....so we don't know the origin.  If you are the author, thank you.  Charlene stated, quite correctly, that it has become politically incorrect to let it be known you are Christian.  We are not supposed to even say Merry Christmas any more.  No offense to any other religions.  You are allowed the freedom in the United States of America to worship in the manner you choose.  Allow everyone else the same choice.  Jesus is the reason for the season!!

*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.*
*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda..*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*
*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
* Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*
*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*
*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,
Not Happy Holiday !*
Please, all Christians join together and
Wish everyone you meet during the
Holidays a
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!

I am proud to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!!!!

A Card Maker's Rights...

I found this in Gina K's forums...thought you all might appreciate it.  I did, anyway!

A card touches us – somehow, a small folded piece of paper can comfort, celebrate, reach out or just say hello. Creating a handmade card is an honorable and important task.

As a cardmaker, you are entitled (but not limited) to the following rights:
  • You have the right to take as long as you want to complete one handmade card. This may be five minutes or two weeks.
  • You have the right to send a card for no other reason than to show off your new stamp, embellishment or technique.
  • You have the right to create a fabulous card for your husband, partner or roommate – just because you know it will stay in your house.
  • You have the right to spread your cardmaking things out all over, just to admire them.
  • You have the right to purchase a certain cardmaking item for no other reason than because a) you like it; b) you think it's cute; c) you'll never find it again, or; d) you know you'll use it someday.
  • You have the right to reserve using your most precious supplies on cards only for recipients who will truly appreciate them.
  • You have the right to a workspace of your own. This may be the basement, your college student's old bedroom or the kitchen table.
  • You have the right to make cards when inspiration strikes – whether the dishes are done or not.
  • You have the right to request peaceful, kid-free, stress-less cardmaking time - guilt-free.
  • You have the right to let the handmade card be the gift, too.
  • You have the right to value your personal style.
  • You are creating a treasure - and part of that treasure is you.

For those of you who know me, you are aware of the medical problems I am facing.  I put out a plea for crafting supplies at a reasonable price, since my stock is so sparse.

I just wanted to let you know that my God sends angels in many sizes, shapes, forms and ways.  I have received some wonderful gifts from some of His angels.  I am pretty teary-eyed right now.  I am in awe of the love that has been sent my way.

Thank you just does not say how grateful I am.  You know who you are.  I hope that you are blessed each and every day for the blessings you have seen fit to give to me.

My heart and prayers are with each and every one of you!!!!

Cardathon...

Hi everyone!  A Cardathon was hosted by a forum group I belong to today.  I participated in it and learned a lot.  One of our members graciously led a real-time tutorial in making an easel card.  An easel card is a project I have never attempted before.  There were members from the States and other countries all participating at the same time.  Besides learning something (me, that is), we all got to chat at the same time. I am posting my first attempt at an easel card here.  I apologize for the quality of the photograph.  I have not yet been able to replace my digital camera, so this was taken with my computer.  I would appreciate any comments you may have....whether it is on how poorly the card photographed or my beginning attempt!!  Hope everyone has a great evening!

It's a glorious Sunday in Georgia!

Good morning everyone!  I am in Paper Craft Planet, Guylou's, a bunch of other sites making wonderful friends that I hope to be lifelong.  They share not only cards, but one another's lives.  It warms the heart.

I made a "grunge" card.  Long story behind it.  I never got into the grunge music but a family member (much younger) did.  It's real heavy, loud music.  A lot of the fans wore dark clothing, chains; can you kind of grasp it?  Well, this is my interpretation of a "grunge" Christmas card for that family member.  It is not irreverent at all;  I consider it my interpretation of grunge music on a card.  It was fun to make.  Used my Cricut, DP paper, glitter pen, gem brad, small rhinestones, bleach effect and on and on.  Hope you can catch the sparkle...and please don't laugh too loudly!

My digital camera was stolen by a  "friend"; tried my camera phone (yuk!), so I went to my computer cam.  This is the best I could do.  I tried to hide me (lol) and show the card....

Have a blessed day!

A rainy Sunday....

Good morning, everyone.  When I got up, I went to take the dogs outside.  Of course, they didn't want to go; heavens forbid that they get their little feet wet.   So mom (me) had to go outside and stand in the rain, I looked like an extra-large, dripping piece of really strange statuary.  But, it served the purpose....they will go out if I will.  When they were through, we all came back in, I grabbed a rather large towel, dried myself off first and then dried the three of them off.

I haven't been able to find any blog candy lately to let ya'll know about.  For two days now I have been moving my craft/yarn/sewing/card making supplies from one small room into a little bigger room.  I don't gave a lot of goodies, but I was surprised how much really small stuff was in there.  First and half of the second day was moving the big pieces of furniture.  I have repurposed two chest of drawers (one 3-drawer and one 6-drawer) into storage pieces, my bookshelf (only it will hold supplies while my books are on top of the larger chest of drawers).  Now I'm going through all that small stuff and trying to decide how to organize them.  Anyway, I hope to be finished today.  Wish me luck!

Each and every one of you have a blessed day.  I will try to find some goodies to post for you.  My craft table is set up again, so I can actually start making cards again by tonight (fingers crossed)....hooray!  'Bye for now.....

Sorry for the absence...

Born:  September 18, 2002
Heaven bound:  September 17, 2010

It is Sunday, 9/19, and it has been a while since I have posted.  Besides personal medical issues, I have had a very sick little dog.  This is my Missy girl.  She was born 9/18/2002 and headed off heaven bound 9/17/2010; just one day shy of her 8th birthday.  People ask me why I'm so upset about a dog...they say it is JUST a dog.  Well, she was my four-legged child.  I have three others, one is her daughter.  Kyla keeps looking for her mom and won't leave my side and I can't quit crying.  A friend of my daughter sent me the following poem so, Missy, this is for you!!  You took part of my heart with you, baby.

Until We Meet Again
by Raven

I see you moving slowly and your face it shows the years, but you are so very beautiful, in my eyes despite my tears.
And if my love could only hold you, forever by my side, I would never let you go, it hurts so much to say goodbye.

So today I love you best, more than words could ever say;
and in my arms I will release you, to be whole, to run, to play...

And someday when I move slowly, and my face it shows the years, I will turn to see my angel and there you'll be to ease my fears.

I'll stroke your head, you'll lick my face, we're overjoyed because we know,
our eternity has started and together we will go...

Love never ends, love never dies, it only waits...

Until we meet again....

Love,
Mom

Paper Wishes

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I just got an e-mail from Paper Wishes (one of my favorite sites) about their  Color Me paper.  This paper has a built in resist and embossed pattern.  It comes in 12 different patterns.  The video (http://www.paperwishes.com/webisodes/?page=high&id=302) on this new product is great!  They mainly use distress inks, but you can use any inkpad, you can heat it slightly and add glitter, flocking or embossing powder.  In the video they show the use as well as the different looks you can get from just one pattern.  Check out the video....another great reason to grab your wallet (when you can!).

Card making materials...

Yes, I do realize that this blog is Stampers Online.  I am utilizing card making materials; will that redeem me?

I visit the Better Homes and Gardens website quite often and I am passing on this project from their website (bhg.com).  I saw this and a light bulb went off...they seldom do, so you better not miss this!  I have bought adhesive backed card stock and used it quite often, but this little stroke of genius never crossed my mind.

Cut your adhesive backed fabric to fit a picture frame you may have (or bought at the $ store).  Use a square punch a little larger than the area of a photo you would like to highlight.  Peel the adhesive backing off slowly attaching to frame backing and placing photos where you want them in your little square windows.  Voila!  A customized frame....and what's to stop you from further embellishing your frame.  We all have buttons, flowers, bling, etc., all over our craft rooms.

I am including a picture.....the copyright and credit belongs to Better Home and Gardens....check them out once in a while.
