Back online...

And I shout that out with a big hooray! I have been going through a lot personally and ask all of you to forgive my sporadic posting; it has been a long road and I hope to be able to change my absenteeism vastly. It won't happen overnight, ya'll, but will be a slow and sure process of rebuilding.

I hope that all of you can hang in there with me...I have missed each and every one of you and have missed even more not being able to be in contact with you all! Big hugs and many blessings to each of you!!

I felt the need to repost this....

Sorry, once again a post that has nothing to do with cards but a lot to do with my heart and the way I feel.

Rescue Rainbow Bridge

Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch.

It wasn't long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often.

He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over Rainbow Bridge. With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly and infirm. They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.

One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for awhile to explain it to him.

"You see, that poor animal was a rescue. He entered rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge."

The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, "So what will happen now?" As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life.

"Watch, and see.", said the second animal. A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together.

"What happened?"

"That was a rescuer. The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one, final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn't place with families on earth, across The Rainbow Bridge."

"I think I like rescuers", said the first animal.

"So does GOD", was the reply.

What a joy to be back online!!!

Hi to everyone! I have missed everyone soooooo much! I'm not sure how often I will be able to post now. I finally have a printer again...hooray!

Nana Vic is offering a free digital image that is just too wonderful for her Vickie's Quickie. This is the card I made with the image.

I do so hope you all have missed me just a fraction of how much I have missed all of you. There are so many e-mails I need to write. I am now in North Carolina but missing Georgia. I can't really say where I will settle. Let's see...North Carolina? Georgia? North Carolina? Georgia?  lol  Have to decide soon...getting too old for many more moves!

Still have health issues that I am having to deal with. I am about 45 minutes from the Durham VA medical center. Duke University Hospital is right next door and their interns/doctors work heavily with the VA here. I am hoping that will mean a better quality of medical care.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful 4th of July! Happy birthday, America, and thank you to all of my fellow veterans and the many current active duty military personnel. Freedom isn't free...it's fought for! Hug a veteran!

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter with family and friends! Mine was very quiet...missing my family.

Well, I don't have any wonderful Happileigh Scrappin' images for you today.  Something a little different for you. I have been wanting to take these photos for almost two weeks now and finally quit procrastinating.

This is a photo taken this morning of the wreath on my front door. I can hear you saying..."So?"  Bear with me, please.

This next shot is a very close shot of the same wreath. Can you see the fluff towards the bottom right corner?

Can't see it?  Look just a little closer....

Isn't God and nature amazing? I check on the nursery every day. The eggs are getting a little darker every day...guess it's the babes growing. Mom and dad visit every day and sit with the eggs. They have even been known to attack visitors. I'll try to keep all of you up to date.

Have a blessed day!!

Happileigh Scrappin' has new releases for today...

Happy Monday to everyone! It is an especially happy Monday around my house! During a recent move, a so-called friend (no longer called a friend) took off with my printer. That means I can no longer print digital images. Leigh has been gracious enough to allow me to showcase her new releases for her (BIG HUGS, Leigh).

Well, that explanation done with, I will go ahead with my reason for this post. That is to show you what Leigh has cooked up for today's release. She always delights with her images and she continues to do so this week. I always love all of her images, but really love the look and feel of Tulip Time...

Just too pretty for words...to me, at least. This image would be suitable for spring, Easter, Mother's Day; just too many occasions to list. And then there is Tea Cup Stack (I just love Leigh's tea cups and tea pots!). This pretty image would suit itself for any one of several occasions, as well.

Aren't they just too pretty for words? And then we have Scraggly Bear....

This little guy is just adorable! I just wish I could print him out and send him on his way to my youngest grandson!  But ya'll can!  Just hop on over to the Happileigh Scrappin' Store and you can own any of these images. Don't forget to stay up-to-date with the challenges always going on at Happileigh Scrappin' Challenge. You never know what's going on there...you might even drop in on a royal wedding.

Oh, I can't leave you this week without letting you know that Leigh is offering a sweet deal this week.  Anyone who purchases three digis will get one image free plus a free Mother's Day sentiment. So drop by the store to take advantage of this offer.

In closing for this week, I want to jump back and say thank you. Thank you to each and every one of you who expressed their love to me. I have missed everyone terribly and I am so glad to back with all of you!

Just like a bad penny... ; )

...I keep turning up...lol!! I hope to be able to resume some DT work just as soon as there are openings for me again. I have soooo missed all of you and my contact with you all and working with all my previous DT sisters. I had two angels come to my aid during this time...I will thank each of you personally (you know who you are) just as soon as I can locate the emails notifying me of your help (I have 4,767 emails to sort through, so please be patient with me)!! Your help was surprisingly unexpected and was received with much gratitude.

I have settled most of the issues at hand and have come out okay...not smelling like roses yet, but on my way. You can't keep a stubborn redhead down for long!

I look forward to regaining contact with my old friends and making new ones every day. May God bless you all for keeping me in your thoughts...you have truly warmed my heart!!

Doodle Pantry Guest Designer for March...

Hi everyone and happy Wednesday to you all! I have been chosen by Laurie Wilson of Doodle Pantry as a Guest Designer for her team for the month of March. Ya'll should really get over to the Doodle Pantry New Release and Challenge Blog and check out the challenges.

You can't beat how easy this challenge is...just use a Doodle Pantry image which you can find in the store. You won't leave empty-handed for a lack of something to choose from! I'm using Laurie's new Fancy Shoe image here...

I used generic card stock for my base card and the pink layer. The Fancy Shoe image is printed on GP white card stock and colored with Prismacolor pencils. I suppose you can say the majority of the card is "green" because most of it is recylcled goodies.  The lace and the roses have been long separated from any labeling so I can't give the manufacturer's proper credit. I fell in love with this shoe image as soon as I saw it and I am pleased that I get to use it.

Don't forget to stop by the store..you will find so much more to want to take home. You can check out the entire design team and there sites just by visiting  the design team page.

A temporary good-bye...

or, I hope, a "see you later". My thanks go out to each of you for following my blog and for my Design Team group owners, each and every one, for putting your faith in me and for continuing to stay with my blog efforts. I have had an unforeseen personal matter intrude in my efforts to be a successful member of the individual design teams and to be productive for them.

I hope that, in approximately three months, I will be able to return. If not in a DT position, at least as a productive blogging community member. Please keep visiting my teams...they are (every one) fantastic artists and just all-around wonderful people and groups to deal with!!! I will post personally as often as I can in the coming few months. Don't give up on me...nothing has kept me down for long so far, so I hope to continue to be a part of your lives soon!!

BIG {{HUGS}} and blessings to each of you!!

A special Happileigh Scrappin' Challenge...

This week we are helping Leigh "Ring the Bell" for a special little boy named Andrew. I have had a step-son deal with cancer at the age of three and had never heard of this tradition. But, after all that children with cancer have to deal with, this would be a monumental step for them. I am proud to help tell Andrew's story.

If you missed the original story back in August, you can find it at "Hey Get Off The Mound, You Are No Bad News Bassetthound" and at "Tuesday Destination Station 106". Anyway, the tradition is (at some cancer treatment centers) that when a patient completes chemo, they get to ring the celebratory bell. Andrew recently reached this milestone. Charlene (cookiebaker) kindly shared a video of Andrew the day he got to Ring the Bell. You can find the video at this link: "Ring the Bell, Andrew".

It was a fantastic day for Andrew and for his family but, after ringing the bell, he got sick again and wound up back in the hospital fighting pneumonia and being sick from the chemo. He is home again now and facing more milestones. A clean MRI, scheduled for today, would mean he would be able to have his port removed on March 1st.

Leigh decided to head a card drive for Andrew and created a fantastic digital image of him ringing the bell. Leigh has discounted the price of her image (which you can find here) in honor of Andrew.  We want to help Andrew celebrate his oh so important milestone by sending him cards. You can purchase Leigh's digital image by visiting her website at Happileigh Scrappin' Store or, if you have any other bell image you would like to use, you can still participate. If you don't have a bell stamp, then you can make any card with something for a celebration. The deadline is set for March 15th to get your card in the mail to him.

Rather than posting his personal information on the internet, you can contact me at rubysimpressions@gmail.com for Andrew's address. On the 16th of March everyone can upload their cards to Splitcoast Stampers with a special Andrew keyword so we can all admire, and comment on, each other's cards. I can't think of a better reason to make a card than this!! So...this week's challenge theme is celebration and you can read all about it at Happileigh Scrappin' Challenge.

This is my card for Andrew:

I hope each and every one of you has a blessed day!

Time for Heart Song Design's new releases...

Leah has done it again with more tremendous releases for you to add to your library. First up is Theadore...she's just such a cute little thing and you can find her at Heart Song Designs. I just love her sitting there holding her tulip. I think she needs to wash her little hands and feet though (she's been playing in the garden)!

And now we have Leah's beautiful Butterfly Thistle....

Isn't this just beautiful. I got curious and just had to look it up. The butterfly is actually known as the painted lady for the patterns of reddish orange, pink, brown, white and blue scales on its wings. Having seen the butterfly in reference books, I really want to color it now. I hope that doesn't sound like a science lesson but, I love butterflies and I just had to pass along what I found out.

Leah has let us in on just a little tease on what to expect in the near future, so as soon as I know...you will know. In the mean time, stop over at Heart Song Designs and take home this beautiful butterfly or Theadore or any of the wonderful images you will find there. And don't forget to check out my sister's sites...you can find them in the left sidebar. Their creations are just fantastic.  Blessings to each and every one of you for today and the upcoming week.

Stamp-n-Doodle Sketch Challenge...

Happy Thursday everyone! This week's challenge at Stamp-n-Doodle is a sketch challenge. And here is the sketch...I like to call them recipe's like everyone else. I hope you enjoy doing a card for this week using this "recipe":

I did do a card using this sketch but I am having camera issues. In the meantime, stop in at my DT sister's sites. You will find links for each of them in my left sidebar. I visited most of the DT's posts for today and I believe you will agree that this team is a WOW-factor team! Each person has worked hard to show you the versatility just one image can bring you! And the talent is just awesome!! You can find Kiss a Lot of Frogs at Stamp-n-doodles (plus many other digis that I know you will love) Digi Boutique.

For the challenge you don't have to use a Stamp-N-doodles image but, if you do, you will earn two entries in the challenge.

So don't cheat yourselves...stop in at the challenge blog; you will find the challenge blog and you will find last week's winner.  Have a blessed day!

Heart Song Sunday Releases...

Happy Sunday everyone!  It's time for another group of wonderful new releases from Leah at Heart Song Designs. She is always busting with terrific images. Just check these out:

Blooming Stars

I made this easel card with the Blooming Stars digital image:

Another new release is St. Patty Daydream:

And the last release is Butterfly Fancy; this is the pre-colored image, but there is also an uncolored version of this one...

Personally, I think they are all great. I have made several cards for friends using the St. Patty Daydream image, but you will have to wait until Monday's challenge announcement to see it. What could it be....hmmmm...??? Oh, please don't miss out on all the team's posts today. You can find all of their links in the left sidebar. Talk about talent; wow!!

Hope your day is joyful and full of love.  Blessings to you all!

DeeDee's Design Digis...

Hi ya'll! I told you earlier that DeeDee's challenge this week was to create a card using buttons, fake or real, it doesn't matter. How easy is that? If you participate in the button challenge you don't have to use one of DeeDee's images but, if you do, you will get her weekly dollar digi with sentiment free. So go on over to DeeDee's Digis and pick up one of the fabulous digis she has. It will get you another digi free. Here's my version of the button challenge using this weeks dollar digi "Pocket Full of Joy".....

I love that digi....that kitten is just too darned cute.  Everyone have a blessed day!

Heart Song Designs...

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I just have to show you my interpretation of Leah's digital image titled "Butterfly Duet". The butterflies were just a part of this week's image releases. If you scroll down just a little further to here you can see them all.  There's a beautiful pre-colored anemone and the cutest little dog you will ever see. His title is "Jasper with Bone". You can find all of these images and much more at the Heart Song Designs shop.

Guess I "blabbed" enough....here are my butterflies....

I printed, colored and cut each image twice. I then glued one on top of the other, but only down the middle. Then I slightly creased the wings at the body to lift them up and curled them slightly. Hope you enjoy them...have a blessed day!

Make It Crafty...

Hello everyone! Many of you may already know about the site Make It Crafty, but I just recently discovered it. I consider it to be one of the better sites I have found for video tutorials. I don't use Copics, because I simply can't afford them, but she has many excellent tutorials on using and blending with Copics (I do wish she had Prismacolor tutorials). She also has videos on how to work with digital images in Microsoft Word. That program I do have and I learned a lot about merging digital images easily. Her Word version is newer than mine so I don't have the same tools easily seen. I had to look a bit to find them, but the same options are in my version. Do check out Make It Crafty's video tutorials. You won't be sorry you did...and she has an excellent site! Everyone have a blessed day!

My Close To My Heart...

Happy Tuesday everyone! Ya'll need to stop by my Close To My Heart Site.  I know a lot of people use digital images now (I'm one of them). But we still have the occasion to use a rubber stamp for flourishes or sentiments or that image we just can't find. I also sell markers, ink pads, reinkers, color coordinated papers, watercolor pencils, shaped cards and envelopes, glitter and embossing products, and cutters, punches, and tools.

There is so much more you will find on my site, including design ideas.  Studio J is an awesome digital scrapbooking program; you really need to read more about it.  I am always available to talk to you if you have a question.  You can order all the items you need online and get quick delivery. Close To My Heart is a well known company with a solid background that you can feel comfortable ordering from.

I would appreciate it very much if you would leave me a brief little note at least letting me know that you stopped by my site.  My phone number and my information is listed in the top right corner of my home page! Thank you so much!
